How you decide to frame your picture depends very much on personal preference. Current fashions in types and colour of mounts and the design of frame mouldings can also influence your choice. Then there’s the décor and the ambient lighting of the area where you are going to hang your pictures…….. For these reasons and the obvious problems associated with shipping up to 7 ft long frames with glass panels, I am not keen to offer framed prints. However, if you would really like framing done, please get in touch and I’ll do my very best to meet your needs.
I prefer to send pictures unframed and unmounted in suitable packaging so they are well protected from damage no matter where they are sent.
Recently my local picture framer suggested I use white card mounts both standard and 5mm thickness in a double, stepped layer when I was framing some pictures for my own use. I found this particularly effective with panoramic prints and a medium size titanium coloured moulding finished it off nicely. It’s also good to give prints plenty of room to 'breathe' when they are mounted and framed.
Whatever you choose, my framer recommends that a photograph is dry mounted onto card before it is framed. This will keep the picture nice and flat in the frame and help prevent any kinking, wrinkling or bubbling.
Products available on this site. Principal offerings are pictures from 10x7 inches up to 18x11 inches and panorama pictures 6, 8 or 10 inches high which could be up to 7ft wide (depending on which picture it is). Please see the individual images for the sizes on offer. Some panorama pictures could also be printed on roll paper up to 48 inches high. This means that the 10 inch by 7ft picture mentioned above, when scaled up to 48 inches high would be around 30ft wide! Impressive at exhibitions. Please contact me to go over your requirements in detail if you are interested in one of these leviathans. All images will be accompanied by signed authentication and include a description of the subject, location, date, materials used to produce the print and any other detail I think might be relevant. The materials used to create the pictures are described in more detail in the section headed Materials, Equipment and Software.
Delivery.
I will dispatch pictures as quickly as possible and e-mail you when that has been completed. However due to the vagaries of international postal systems, please allow 28days for delivery.
